Who runs Pet Mate

Pet Mate is made and operated by Dane Clarke in New Zealand. It's a small, independent project: a funny personality reading for your dog or cat, made from a photo and a few quiz answers.

It's entertainment only. The reading comes from the colours and texture of your photo and the answers you give — it can't read your pet's mind, and it's not medical, behavioural or training advice. If you have real concerns about an animal, please ask a vet.

What's free, and what costs money

The reading, the quiz, the secret, the rap sheet, the trading card and the mini-game are all free, with no sign-up.

Pet Mate Plus is an optional one-off payment of NZ$2.99. It unlocks extra cosmetic and bonus features: collectible card frames, photo-booth scenes, the full dossier card, the owner-compatibility reveal, pet-versus-pet showdown cards, a bigger sticker pack, and saving more than one pet.

It is not a subscription. You pay once and there are no recurring charges. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

Bought it on one device and now using another? Open any locked feature, choose Already bought it? Restore, and enter the email address you paid with.

Refunds

14-day refund, no fuss. If you're not happy with Pet Mate Plus, email us within 14 days of your purchase from the address above, using the email you paid with, and we'll refund the full amount to the card you paid with.

After a refund the Plus features may stop working on your devices.

Nothing here limits your rights under New Zealand consumer law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act.

Privacy: your photos stay on your device

• Photos never leave your device. The reading is worked out inside your browser. Your photo is not uploaded, sent to a server, or stored by us.
• Saved pets stay on your device. If you save a pet, it's kept in your browser's own storage on that device only, and you can remove it with the Forget button.
• Basic, anonymous usage counts. We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to count which steps people reach (for example “finished a reading”). It uses no cookies and collects no photos, names or reading content.
• Payments. Stripe processes payments and holds your purchase record, including the email you paid with. When you tap Restore, our server asks Stripe whether that email has paid for Plus. We don't keep our own list of customers.

Terms in plain words

• Pet Mate is provided for fun, as is. Readings are made-up entertainment and are not accurate descriptions of any animal.
• Please only upload photos you're happy to use, and don't use Pet Mate to harass or mislead anyone.
• We may change or improve the app over time.
• These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
